I start my blog about life in Chattanooga with an entry on Nashville.
It's really great having Jessica so close in Nashville. She is a true soul friend, and I am so glad I have been able to witness the strange and enlightening adventure she is experiencing in that house full of fun and that homeless center full of crazy. My visits to Nashville have been full of both- crazy and fun.
Jess and her roommates always seem to come up with some plan that ends up being more than odd. Saturday night we walked to the Beer Barrel, and I was some what startled by the overly friendly welcome Jessica and her roommates received. Apparently they have become favorites of the regulars there. Perhaps the Karaoke performances will give you an idea of what kind of establishment the Beer Barrel is. I was forced on stage with every women in the bar and as awkward as this was, I actually found that I couldn't resist belting the chorus line, "I'm a redneck woman, ain't no high class broad". A few songs later Jess and I found ourselves staring up at a drunk man standing on a table and hilariously joining him in the song, Stroke It. "Stroke it to the east, stroke it to the west...stroke it, stroke it." I was singing that song all night, it was catchy as hell. We decided it was time to go after each of us had experienced some sort of inappropriate encounter and determined we would not be going back- ever.
My visit to Nashville would not have been complete without some honky tonkin' at Robert's. So we closed out the night the only way I know how- on the dance floor. Jessica even got to dance with Abe Lincoln! We weren't too shocked to find that he has a very limited repertoire of dance moves. I mean how long can you dance with Abe Lincoln? Jessica?
It is always refreshing to spend time with Jess. We quickly revert back to the carefree silliness of our college days as roomies. Some times it is so comforting and satisfying to be in the company of some one who knows you so well. I keep gently trying to convince her to move here. I know she would love it. What's not to love about Chattanooga? Jessica?

I'm glad that your visit to Nashville inspired you to write this blog... try not to scare our other friends away from visiting me by describing the Beer Barrel in too much detail and posting pictures of my roommates trying to kill you. It was so good to see you, and I love you and miss you everyday! And to answer your question, 5 seconds dancing with Abe is 5 seconds too long.
